I was given an old, super root-bound monstera by a coworker. I trimmed the roots down, removing the mushy and moldy bits and gave her a new, bigger pot. Any tips on getting her to flourish in her new home? (Don’t worry, she lives inside, I just did my repotting in the garage to minimize the dirt in my house!)

i definitely think you should put a support behind this plant. (monstera have a “face” where the leaves grow, and a “back” where the aerial roots grow) since it’s short now, adding a support such as a trellis or post will make sure your monstera has space to grow upwards in the future. plantyann offered some great tips on overall monstera care, but i’d like to share a few additional points. my soil recipe, for one, i use 1 part potting soil (or coco coir and worm castings) to 1 part coarse perlite to 1 part fir bark chips (“orchid bark”) and this mix works great for all the epiphytes in my care (over 20 species). last but not least, be sure to add a small amount of reduced strength fertilizer with every watering, monstera are heavy feeders and will decline in health quickly if the nutrients in their soil are depleted

It’s far from too late! Do you recommend a moss pole? I see those often for monstera

Thanks for the information! My monstera desperately needs a new pot and more aerated soil. Do you think it would be okay if I do it now (winter for me)?
