Hello, I inherited a Monstera Deliciosa about 4 years ago. It hadn’t been trained so had grown outwards. Since having it I’ve managed to gradually train it to go up. But it’s so heavy it keeps falling over. Has anyone got any tips?

I’d suggest a nice chop and prop. Taking off the top section will make it less top heavy and then you’ll end up with two monsteras! You could also just buy a really heavy pot.

I use coated garden stakes (6’ is longest I’ve used) to prop up my tall/big plants and put the cache pot into a heavy decorative concrete/clay pot that fits the cache pot snugly so it doesn’t tip over.

If you prefer not to trim it down, I’d suggest utilizing some string and connect it from the ceiling to the pole. I’ve seen people do this with larger plants. 🌿

a trellis would help wrangle this plant better than a pole— more surface area for the roots to hold onto. i’ve also seen people attach their large form monstera to wooden planks. i’d suggest pruning and propagating too if you have the heart to take shears to this plant. it might be a good idea to separate the baby monstera growing from the bottom as well
