Hello 👋🏾 about 2 weeks or so ago I began propagating a leaf from my monstera. And since it’s grown a new leaf and roots. Should i keep it in the water at this point or put it in soil? This is my first successful propagation 🙂

The general rule is wait until the root has roots.

Agree with above posts of waiting to pot. Alternatively, you can keep it in water indefinitely! I have many monsteras living in water and sprouting new leaves 🤩

Another good rule of thumb with propagating is to slowly add dirt to the water throughout a couple weeks rather than moving directly from water to soil. The roots that are in just water are water roots and likely won’t root into 100% soil. If you slowly add dirt to the water you’ll start to get soil roots and they’ll take root and produce a plant. This is why a lot of propagation fails for new plant parents. Just be careful to make sure there’s no root rot and keep an eye on the plant as it goes through the propagation process.

Update: the roots are growing like wildflowers 🥰
