I need advice please. I’ve had this baby for over a year, possibly two. As you can see it’s still in its original 4” pot. I’m planning to repot now even though it’s recommended in the spring I just feel it needs it now. My question is regarding the height and legginess. The tallest are about 16” yet the leaves have remained quite small. I realize it hasn’t had sufficient light and I have a grow light I’m adding. Do I trim the smaller leaves? Should I take down some of the tallest to make it less leggy?

I think trimming is a good idea. Be sure to cut at a node so you can propagate the cuttings.

I would suggest cutting the tallest leaves to make the plant look more compact

Should I cut first and transplant after?

Can I prune and transplant at the same time?

Ok thank you. Was just worried about too much shock all at once. That is a very good point about the water.

While a bigger pot is necessary I would not go too big as that could cause problems, usually it is best to go 2” at a time, upgrade to a 6” pot now and then when it outgrows that pot go to an 8” etc etc
