I was wondering if any of you have tried putting a monstera cutting in an aquarium, and if so, do you recommend it? I have been looking online and some sources say it’s good to put monstera in fish tanks, but others disagree. For reference, I have a 20 gallon tank with a couple fish in it as well as live plants. Any help would be appreciated!

I would think it would be okay. The only thing I can think of is maybe the roots would be too strong if they attached to the silicone seal. I had huge pothos in a 60 gallon for years though. They didn’t bother the silicon, but I did have to pull some aerial roots off of the wall behind the tank a couple times 😂

Yes, you can grow monsteras in a fish tank. Only the roots should be submerged in water. The thing that should really be considered is how huge monsteras can get and to make sure your space can accommodate the setup. It make require a bit more maintenance ie chopping and propping, down the road. If you google image search “monstera in aquarium” you’ll find a ton of examples. Quickly pulled this image from Reddit. All that being said, I think it would be a really cool setup if done right. Good luck!
