My monstera cuttings have been in water for a month and there is very little root activity. Is this normal?

Add liquid fertilizer! They start growing so quickly!

I’m in the same boat as you. I’ve had my cuttings in water, added fertilizer, and a pothos cutting and nothing yet. It’s definitely teaching patience

Patience is not my strong point 😂

How much light are they getting? Higher light definitely helps with prop speed.

They are in a west facing window, so they get a lot of daylight but not much direct sun. I could move them to the east facing porch, but it’s getting cold now, which might not help.

Another suggestion a friend noted too, yes add another plant, like a Pothos, but also make sure you only change the water if absolutely necessary. The plant starts excreting growth hormones that will help it grow more roots. So instead of completely dumping the water to clean it just add some new and only change out a part of you have to.

I had read this, too, so I wasn’t changing the water, but then everyone else who commented said change the water. I think your theory sounds plausible so I’m going to keep going with that.
