I’ve had this monstera for over a year and have been meaning to repot it since then — I only got around to it last week. It declined significantly because I stopped watering it to repot it, but couldn’t get around to doing it until weeks later, after most of its leaves started yellowing. I put it in entirely new soil, gave it a hearty watering, and trimmed off most of its dying leaves so it could save energy, but I’m worried I shocked it a little too much because now it’s only green leaf is yellowing. Can I save it? I’m very, very new to this and very emotionally attached to this plant.

You definitely still have hope, you could just chop it at any of the nodes and propagate another plant

I remember when I inherited some of my aunts plants because she was no longer able to care for them. By the time I had gotten them they needed some major tlc. I was hesitant at first but long story short I ended up chopping them all back and starting over. Today they look amazing. You can see their variegation. They are happy and healthy. My point is sometimes you have to go back and then you can move forward. Give her more light if possible. She has some baby leaves so she’s trying to grow for you. But don’t be afraid to chop and prop. Also that’s a lot of pot for so little foliage. Did you check for root rot. Your still in this so don’t give up. Wish you the best of luck! 🍀

Most of the roots were very dry, but I think root rot was the initial problem for a while. New leaves would grow, then rot and get mushy right after/before unfurling.

It could be depending where you’re planting it, could be your watering, you could spray it as well, it could be the soil, I’d say don’t worry too much about the leaves, new leaves always come out, just keep watering, spraying and giving it the best lighting

What makes me sad is these leaves are GIGANTIC, and I know they must have taken years to get to that size…I feel like I’m undoing all it’s hard work 😭 I’m also too empathetic to my nonhuman plants

If anything you’re helping it, just spray it, maybe once a week, water it once a week, stop watering when the water comes out from the bottom holes, never water it if it’s in a container, when you water it you leave it outside until the pot stops watering, don’t put it hard core in the sun either and when you least know it, your plant will be the size of your house 🤫🫶🏻

Your monstera is light starved. It definitively needs some grow lights and/or more sun. Might be better off chopping and propping to reset.

But what would she cut though? There is almost nothing to cut, it just depends how you want your plant to grow, but even the petiole to the right is growing a new leaf, it’s growing, it just depends how they want it to grow

Right? Or what did you mean?🤔 I have a monstera as well and I cut it recently and it’s growing upwards cause that’s how I want it to grow
