Hi~ I am a newbie with plants ~ mostly because every plant I have ever owned has died. Pretty quickly, too. I received a Monstera and another plant for my birthday recently because I have been admiring other peoples plants and my loved ones noticed. I was so excited when I received my plants, but am now worried because after only a few weeks my Monstera leaves are browning all over! I swear I am watering it like I’m supposed to (once per week) and I’ve even tried talking to it at this point! Does anyone know why my leaves would be browning? To be specific, they will start to turn brown and then will be brittle in the brown spots to the point that it seems like that part is dying… thank you in advance for any feedback you might have!

Monsteras should dry out between watering. Make sure it’s in a well draining chunky soil. Prob overwatering. None of my monsteras get watered weekly. But agree with Lindsey, pics would be helpful.

Have you checked for thrips? This looks kind of like thrips damage to me…

Thanks for posting pics! I don’t know much about thrips mentioned above, so that may be something to look up. My thoughts would be: - is he getting plenty of drainage? Be sure there isn’t any water sitting at the bottom of that pot. - I’m wondering what his soil is like. Does it feel pretty moist to the touch, even a few days after watering? If so, it may not be a porous enough soil. - either way, if it persists, you will want to repot with new chunky soil. - if you feel like his soil dries out well and you don’t want to repot, I’d recommend getting a fungicide of some type to treat the plant for pests. I like the Bonide Systemic Granules. - it doesn’t look like this is the issue, but general tip, be sure he’s getting plenty of bright indirect light. - if it were only the older leaves browning, I wouldn’t be worried as much, but since it’s some of the top leaves too, def something to be concerned about. He’s trying to tell you something. 😆🤷🏻‍♀️🙏🏼
