So this fellow was given to me by a friend who had been keeping him in water. I potted him up, and he seemed to be doing fine and throwing up new leaves. Well today, I took the pot out of the planter, and the roots are running wild. I cringed putting the pot back in the planter because I heard the roots crunch 😖 Anyone have any suggestions? It’s definitely not big enough to need a new pot yet. I’m worried they’ll rot with no air flow :/

You can’t help you’re just taking such good care of them xD I’d recommend a repot but keep the same pot and soil. Soak the roots to make them a bit more flexible and repot. Kind of how you would treat aerial roots if you want them to be potted instead. Show your plant that you have the upper hand here ;D

Haha 😂 so I actually ended up pretty much doing that. Took it all out and gently tried to aim the roots in a better direction and back in the pot. Any idea how to prevent this from happening again?

Also I’m actually a little worried about the plant…does it look like it has pests?

Take worse care of it? 🤣 honestly they’re little monsters for a reason 🤣 but honestly I think maybe it feels like there’s not enough space in the pot? Do you fill the bottom with soil and then put them in?

I can’t scrape these white things off, otherwise I would have thought maybe thrips?

To be honest it looks like it’s suffocating to me. Hate to say it but it looks like it needs a bigger pot. But like with growing room. You could use the same medium but like your pot looks the same as mine and mines half the size

Mines in an 8inch pot (I also have a pole) it also needs a dusting don’t judge me 😭 but like I’ve noticed with monsters they need a little wiggle room. I’m a bit jealous at your plants growing capabilities. But I would try a bigger pot because it would hold more water for longer. They’re super thirsty and if you just add more water the soil would be moist and that would attract pests 🤔

Also the brown tip looks like a sunburn. I left on vacation and lost a whole leaf to sunburn 😭
