Hi everyone! my girlfriend and I just picked up these two monsteras a couple weeks ago. these are our first plants and looking for a little direction! we have them in front of a NW facing balcony door that’s mostly indirect sunlight/shade. we haven’t gotten on a stable watering patter but have been about every 8/9 days. they’ve been sucking it right up and leaving the drip tray just a little moist. we see the leaves wilting or curling up a little, does anyone know why that is? (you can see in the photos). I read somewhere that it could be from overwatering but every time i’ve gone to water them they’ve been dry even through the hole at the bottom too. All advice is welcome! Thanks!

Does anyone know why their leaves are curling?

Mine does this as well - usually better after I water. Monsteras can dry out before watering again. Someone at the beginning of my plant journey told me that it’s easier to save an UNDER watered plant than it is to save an OVER watered plant.

I water mine every 2 weeks and I have them on my fire place and I bottom water all my plants ☺️ maybe try that? I also poke my finger into the soil and if its still damp I don’t water them 🫶🏼🫶🏼

I only water my monstera every 2 weeks as well. Are you sure you’re giving it enough water at the time you’re watering it? I usually bottom water my monstera as well, but because they can be such big plants, sometimes you may need to water them slowly. Like I have a large tray under mine and I pour maybe 3-4 cups of water into the tray, and it soaks it all up very quickly. Then I check it after maybe 30-45 mins and pour another 1 cup, and then repeat again after another 30 mins. After that there’s usually water left and I throw out the remaining water. When my plant was about the size of yours, I would actually even put it in my bathtub on watering day and gently run water on it until it started coming out the bottom of the pot, and I’d leave it in the tub for several hours to drain before putting it back in it’s spot. You would have to make sure your plant is in well-draining soil before trying that though. Good luck, they’re beautiful plants and usually pretty forgiving as you’re learning! 😊
