Heyy!! I just bought this beauty a couple months ago and right away she put out this leaf with its first fenestration. Since then I feel like I’ve had to repot it every 4-5 weeks because of how quickly the roots grow. I’m relieved to have happy roots, but it’s only grown one leaf in my time of having it (I would say around 2-3 months). I really don’t know as much about Thai Cons as I thought I did, and I’ve had to cut off 3 old leaves because of yellowing since I got it, but all the roots looks great and there are no signs of root rot. This is what the roots currently look like Does any of this seem like a red flag? Will it just start popping them out soon?

hi, beautiful monstera! you might be getting yellowing due to transplant shock. monsteras do not typically need to be repotted that often so let it grow a tad and see how it does. also, have you used any fertilizer during that time? good luck!

Yes! I have fertilized it once a month since I got it and the most recent was about a week ago

The picture on the left is not a reason to repot. What’s most likely happening is every time you repot into something larger it is focusing it’s energy on roots rather than growing leaves. Furthermore, Thais are known for root rot so I wouldn’t continue to up the pot size you will increase that possibility even more. It’s ok for roots to look like this. I have some of like coming out the bottom holes and I still don’t repot.

Also the yellowing leaves to me is indication the pot is too large and or you’re watering too often.

At what point do you repot? I read that they don’t like to be root bound which is why I thought repotting would be a good idea. This is what my plant looks like currently and had more roots on it the when I did repot it. This is an orchid pot. Also, when you water, do bottom water or water over the soil?

I water in my shower mostly and with these pots I make sure it’s getting saturate bc otherwise the water leaks out all the holes without being properly watered. Roots have to be pretty badly root bound for me to repot.
