Any ideas why the soil my monstera is in won’t dry out? I watered it 18 days ago and it’s still showing as wet on my water meter. The pot has good drainage and I don’t think it’s too big for the roots. It seems happy, but hasn’t put out new leaves for months. If has a grow light and I mist it weekly. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong 😞

Definitely needs a more airy soil, with orchard bark and perlite

it’s also important to keep in mind that moisture meters don’t actually measure the level of water in the soil, but the conductivity, since water is such a good electrical conductor, but there are lots of other factors that affect conductivity in the soil. using a chunky mix will also render them entirely useless since there is so much air in the soil

That’s interesting to know! Thank you.

I second the airy soil suggestions and have the following to add though not sure if it helps… My Monstera loves misting. I do so at least 5 times per week if I remember. They like to drink from their leaves so I typically spray most of the green but not the soil. There may also be a need for a bit more light to help the soil dry out a bit more

Thanks :) Do grow lights help dry out the soil at all? I’m not sure the grow light is making a difference.
