Hey!! I appreciate I may not have the perfect environment for my monstera as I live in a city apartment but, my most recent leaf was quite small although has loads of cute lil cuts in the leaf so i feel like i’m doing something right. Are smaller leaves something to be concerned about?? either way i love her and cherish her but just wanted to make sure 💚

Gosh had to cut out that good looking Calathea Ornata? I feel like you gotta show off your collection now! You already got 2 amazing choices I’m aware of 😋

the leaves will also get a lot bigger as they harden off, i was a little concerned about my monstera’s newest leaf being around 7” vs the 12”+ older leaves but as it ages it’s gotten a lot bigger. if you notice the fenestrations decreasing as well as the leaves getting smaller that’s a good indicator that it needs something else, like more light, fertilizer, or a bigger pot

I live in LA and my monstera does this too. No rhyme or reason.

After it grows into its full size, if its still smaller, this can be because its getting less light than previous leaves had, or needs support to climb onto, or even (a bit advanced and hard to explain) if the medium was changed from something dense to something light and airier (which is generally a good thing, but side effect is the plants tends to grow smaller due to not being anchored down as much as before).
