I repotted this in the spring and just a week or so ago I had 5 new leaves. Today I see that it is squishy at the base. Can it be saved if I just cut away the squishy? And what would cause this! TIA

Oh no! You might have a drainage issue. Maybe the roots are too wet. If you still have some good leaves you could prune the gross stuff. But I would probably take it out of it's pot and look at the soil and roots. There's definitely something not right. Maybe the new pot or soil doesn't drain as well?

They like a chunkier soil. Maybe add some orchid bark. This can help with drainage and ensure it doesn’t get waterlogged. A lot of soil straight out of a bag isn’t going to meet every plant’s needs. There are a lot of YouTube videos that will show you how to create specific mixes - starting with the base of potting mix from the nursery
