What could my monstera be missing that it’s not producing fenestrated leaves? Thanks 😊

Probably light!

Thanks. I can’t really move it closer to the window, so maybe I’ll look into a grow light.
3件のいいねFenestration also comes with maturity so maybe with time

Thank you! I thought this, too, but it started producing fenestrated leaves a while back and now seems to have stopped again. It’s 3 years old. Maybe it’s normal at this stage for it to come and go.
0件のいいねI’m curious about this too. I have two monsteras, one I’ve had for almost 3 years now and it’s similar to the one you have pictured. It produces leaves regularly but seems to have trouble with fenestration. Weirdly, right after I got it, the first two new leaves had many fenestrations on both sides, and then it went for a long time producing leaves with none at all (and the fenestrated leaves died quickly, but I still have some original leaves from when I purchased). At one point about a year ago I realized I was letting it get a bit too dry between watering, and it has been producing some fenestrations since then, but still only 2-3 per leaf. This plant produces relatively small leaves and grows very long/thin stems between nodes. My second monstera I’ve had for about 1.5 years, has always produced decent fenestrations, and the leaves are steadily increasing in size. Both are similar locations/light/watering/fertilizer. I’m sure more light would help but maybe some plants are just different? Definitely interested in knowing more about what triggers fenestrations.

This is really interesting, thank you! I’ve had this plant for three years, too. It was tiny when I bought it so it’s grown wonderfully. Just the fenestration is haphazard. I love it regardless, but a few more holey leaves would be awesome!
