Bought this guy a few days ago. Didn't look like it had been watered in about 2 weeks. It's looking rough. Got it repotted and watered yesterday. I've been spraying with insecticide as a precaution and isolating. Any advice? Should I cut the half dead leaf?

That’s not dead. That’s a rare variegated Monstera Alba and if you got this cheap you are very lucky. Enjoy, they are sought after. I have a baby Thai Constellation, similar but different

Thanks! The guy just had a baby and couldn’t look after it anymore, i got it for $80. I figured it wasn’t dead, there’s just half a leaf I’m debating cutting.

Just leave it a few days. Sometimes they wilt from shock but come back. If not you can cut it later if it starts drying. Nice Alba. I have a thai constellation and this one is next ❤️

That’s what I figured, it seems like it’s bouncing back a little already! Nice! I bought a Thai the same day I couldn’t help myself. That one is a lot healthier.

Give her more time to settle in, and plenty of indirect light ☺️ the leaf that’s been trimmed is still healthy at this point, so I’d leave it. The white parts of the leaves cannot photosynthesize so it’s important to keep green foliage ☺️ she a pretty girl!

Thanks that’s very reassuring to hear! I’m very happy to have gotten her. Just needs a little rehab ☺️

You’ve got this and best of luck! Make sure you don’t overwater her, the like to dry out between watering. A lot of people bottom water their Monstera plants, I don’t, but it seems common ☺️

Green leaves can still provide nitrogen to the rest of the plant. Nitrogen is a mobile element and will go where needed throughout the plant. I wait until mine turn totally yellow and come off with a gentle tug. Also if you want to trim it anyhow give it a few days to recover from repotting.
