Hi all ☺️ I bought this beauty at the weekend, my biggest purchase so far! Any tips on her care? She is in a shady spot quite a distance from a window. I have been misting her and running a humidifier but I just really want to keep her as healthy and beautiful as she is now 🤞🏻 Also, do I need to water the pole she is on? Thanks!

the pole is just there to hold it up so no need to water the pole, just the plant :)

Some people water the poles made of sphagnum moss so the plant establishes a healthy root system as it climbs and it’s easier to chop and prop. They say it’s so the leaves grow larger, but simply giving the plant a support stake, like a coir pole, will still result in much larger leaves, just no root system established via the aerial roots. The coir pole does not need to be watered. I’ve attached pictures of an example of using a sphagnum moss pole to develop the aerial root system. The guy has a lot of useful info on his page. So, I guess it just depends on what you want to do! Hope this helps.

Monstera can survive in shade, but will grow significantly faster & larger if given more sunlight. I keep mine right in front of an east facing window that gets a good amount of light and it’s gotten huge over the years. If you’re looking for fast growth I’d try giving it more light🙂 And based on your photo, to me your moss pole looks like it’s just for support and would not need watering.

It needs a good amount of indirect light ☺️
