Hi all, I’m looking into getting a monstera plant and was wondering how much light one really needed. i love monsteras and think they’re beautiful but my room doesn’t catch a ton of light. here’s a layout of my room. the west window (W) has a desk and is full of plants already so there’s no room to set a bigger pot, even in the floor. the north/northeast window doesn’t catch much light at all. would a monsters be able to survive there by the window? (i live in western kentucky, if that helps any)

I think they could survive but probably not mature with huge leaves, but you could always supplement with a grow light to help it.

If you don’t want to get a grow light, it definitely needs to be in the west window!

My son lives in the basement and he has TWO monstera plants in his room. I have him "the look" when he put them down there. He's got a north and west facing window but they are ground level and only get filtered sun. Both of those things are ENORMOUS now. I can't believe it. He did grow light them over the winter but those things are just fine. 🤷🏻‍♀️
