Hi! Here’s my first monstera Thai Luna Lady. I’ve had her a about a month now and she’s growing a new leaf! 😃 But… why is the bottom leaf yellowing? I use distilled water and she’s in a very light soil mix of orchid bark, perlite, etc. A local plant store in KC potted her for me.

It is very normal for oldest leaves to yellow and die, so there’s no reason to be concerned :)

Thank you! She is my first monstera out of 3! I have a 6 leaf albo and a small adansonii.

I live in KC too!! And definitely just the oldest leaf dying off to give energy to the newer ones :) no need to panic!!

That’s awesome! I’m about 40 mins East of KC. This has became a new hobby for me and I can’t stop searching for the plants that I want! Lol I’m still searching for plant shops that are local or in my area so I don’t have to purchase online. Would you mind sending me some recommendations? I have been to rOOTS KC which is where I got my albo ❤️

So sorry for the late response!! I’m in south KC near the zoo. I’ve actually worked at a few plant stores around here and I loved Larry’s Nursery in Riverside, in my opinion they have the best selection and price. rOOTS KC is owned by a friend of a friend so I definitely love that place! All of the Family Trees are great places to find super healthy plants and knowledgeable people :) best tip is to join local Facebook plant groups! They sometimes will post about plant sales, plant pop ups, and other cool plant finds.
