I have a Monstera borsigiana propagated from a leaf and node. It reliably puts out one small non-fenestrated leaf at a time. When a second leaf develops, the first one blackens and shrivels. It's in a smallish pot and it's near a tree-shaded window. I’ve had it for a couple of years and that’s all it has ever done. Any ideas?

Blackening leaves is a sign of not enough sunlight. This happened with mine, now it’s in a south facing window and doing much better

It’s in a south facing window - the only available one - but there is a tree about 12’ from it which provides quite a bit of shade. I also live in the Pacific NW so it’s pretty gray for half the year. Maybe I need to get a plant light for it.
