I just got this plant from mom today since she has been neglecting it for a couple months now since she has been extremely busy with life and she’s offered me her plant for years now and I finally thought I’d try and care for plants but now I’m clueless I know it needs a lot of TLC but I just don’t know where or how to start, we clipped most of the extremely dead leafs but now I’m not sure what to do. HELP PLEASE. I don’t want to kill it.

I think you should propagate the Leaves were the node is and put in water then try to let new leaves grow.

Adding: only propagate using the stems. Not only a leaf (just for clarification 😄) Another possibility is to give it a mosspole and keep caring for it. It’ll produce new leaves soon.

But be careful not to overwater it now when it’s lost a lot of leaves.

I sadly neglected my Swiss cheese monstera and it was in a similar state and this is what I did to bring it back! First I cut and propagated everything that I could (similar to what others have said). Mine had dropped nearly all its leaves so I just cut all the noddles off and left nothing on the mother plant. Then I repotted the mother plant in a 1:1 potting soil:perlite mix and just treated it like normal. I had it on a strict watering schedule and moved it to a better window that was bright but indirect. After about three weeks, I saw new growth! It’s now been about 6 weeks and it’s got several new and healthy leaves. Sometimes you just gotta cut it all off and give the plant room to grow anew! Best of luck <3
