Do my monstera and philodendron need these coir poles?
Do my monstera and philodendron need these coir poles?
First, choosing to put a pole on a monstera is not entirely necessary. What a pole will do though is encourage growth in a consistent direction and provide additional support for the plant to put out bigger leaves. So if you choose to use a pole any pole will work! The coir one you have there works great or even a piece of wood or garden stake like I have on monstera. let me know if you have any other questions
1 me gustaQuick question, how do you know where and how to position your pole to ensure proper growth?
1 me gustaSo if you have multiple plants in a pot you can seperate them like below. I am guessing from your photo that there might actually be 2 or so individual monstera plants in your pot. Once you separate them look for, again, the direction the roots and leaves generally go toward. It won’t be perfect but over time the plant will adjust. Photo 1: Monstera plant separated into 8 or so individual plants Photo 2: As you can see the stem is curving upward now with roots and leaves growing that direction. You’ll need Velcro or plant tape to secure the plant to the stake.
