Should I repot? Hello everyone, I recently bought this Montesera (about a month ago). It was grown taller and grown new leafs since then. When water it, I noticed roots are coming out from the bottom, as well as from the top. Should I repot? If so, what size? Currently it is in an 7 inch pot. Thank you! 💚💚💚
This big roots you see coming out the top are called aerial roots- they help the plant to climb! If you want the plant to get bigger and encourage growth, I would get a moss pole to climb on. The aerial roots will grow into and around the pole and it signals the plant to create more growth. If not, the roots will grow down into the soil, which is completely fine. The plant will just not grow as fast and will keep the same size. As for the roots coming out of the bottom, that’s a good indication of when to repot. Monsteras do like to be a bit root bound, so I wouldn’t probably pot up yet. It’s such a healthy plant, and when you repot, plants tend to go into a bit of a shock. But when they get a bit longer and you’re ready to repot, go 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball.
