Hi, beginner here. I’ve had this monstera for just over a year. Bought it from Fb Marketplace and didn’t even know the exact variety. So far it has grown 2 big serrated leaves this summer. So maybe its doing good so far. Question: Do I cut the long brown node(?) sticking out from it? What’s its purpose of it?

That’s an air root, monstera grow them a lot. You can cut it off, but I like to direct them into the pot; they provide extra stability & roots 😃

Thank you! All this time I’m waiting for it to grow a leaf lol. I’ll just leave it alone then.

The nodes attach too the pole. Those are aerial roots. If you're really patient you can get your monstera too attach too the pole. That's why the coir pole is used
