I was gifted this MONSTERa a few weeks ago (it’s in my dog’s room, so caged off just in case). She’s in morning sun, shade from noon-dusk. I watered her a few days ago and she really needed the drink. I usually water every few weeks when my leaves show me signs. Any tips? See anything off that I need to adjust? I do not want to lose her 😭 she was gifted so I’m eternally grateful.

Hi there, congrats on your baby! I would trim her at this point and propagate the bits you trimmed off into new plants! That will help neaten her up (and will give you more monstera plants!)

Thanks! I thought about this as well, is it best to propagate in soil or water?

I tend to propagate in water because I have a bit more control and can monitor the roots much easier. It’s a great learning opportunity especially when you’re just starting out. There are plenty of videos on YouTube etc on where to cut but feel free to reply if you still have questions. Your plant has a long stem with lots of leaves so you can potentially get quite a few cuttings! Very exciting! I helped my bff with her monstera similarly recently and the mother plant really perked up and responded well. And she has a million monsteras growing all over her apartment now too 😂😂😂

Would you add anything to the water? How often do you change out the water? Sometimes I see stuff in the water.

The water should be changed at least weekly
