I have my young monstera plants in small pots because I wanted them to be appropriate to the root size. I watched several YouTube videos before repotting and didn’t want to go too big. My concern is that they are pretty top heavy and could easily tip over. The pots are light plastic with good drainage. Do you have any suggestions for how to keep them upright? I had the thought of maybe putting 2-3 rocks on top of the soil to add weight? Would that be bad for them? Maybe I need to buy 2nd pots that are heavier to put the pots in?

I'm not sure you have much room in those pots for a trellis or moss pole but that would help them go upright. Also when watering turn your plants 1/2 a turn so it won't lean for the light.

I just saw that you have something to try and hold them upright but i think they need to be bigger. Or get pots that are stronger.

Thank you! I have some treleaf support poles I was going to use but they make the pots tip over even more. The pots are so light, but I don’t want to repot the plants because they are doing so well. I might try to find ceramic pots that are heavy and a bit bigger that I can put them in to help hold them up. These monstera plants cost a combined $10 initially but the support items are costing me 💰 💵 $$$$! 😂

Yeah heavier pots seem like the only other thing you can do then.. its funny how when hou think you got a great deal but you end up spending more for all the stuff you need to keep them happy 😅🙈🙈

Yes, exactly! It was 6 monsteras in one pot. Yay! Such a bargain for $10. Now I only need 6 pots to put them in and 6X the work lol.

You could get larger, heavier pots (or maybe some with room to put some rocks in) and just put the monsteras in, pot and all.

When I first got my monsteras, I tried rotating them regularly and it was a mess. The leaves only wanted to change directions so much before they just kind of got stuck facing wonky directions. They do much better just facing one direction without rotating. I also found out that they love much more light than I thought. I gradually moved them into a southwest facing window and they love it! They’re getting hours of direct afternoon sun (I am up in Delaware). If they get moved slightly to the side so that some of the leaves don’t get as much direct sun, it will lean over to grow more in the direct sunlight.

I keep mine with a grow light and they love it! I do think they need a lot of consistent sun, too! I’ve also read that rotating them causes them to splay all over as you said.
