Hello all! Please help. I got these three cuttings this summer (late August I think) at a farmer’s market in a vase. I kept them in water probably longer than I should have (until January) and the roots were fine — it even grew two new leaves in that time. I potted it with all purpose soil + extra perlite about six weeks ago and it has stayed droopy. It looked droopy when in water too but was still growing healthy roots and leaves. The yellowing on the one leaf (in photo) started maybe three weeks ago but isn’t getting worse and all other leaves look fine. The stems are all firm and seem healthy. The soil stays very wet for days after watering. I’m careful not to water if it still feels wet and I also have a moisture meter. I don’t really know what else I can do. It’s my only monstera and I see others looking so tall and beautiful I just want mine to thrive 😭 This may be long but I wanted to be thorough to get the best advice 😂 anything will be appreciated, thanks!

How big is the pot related to the roots? You want to go only 1-2 inches larger than the root ball ideally.

Yikes that might be the problem then. This is the last photo I took of the roots but it’s from November so there’s a little more. The pot is 9-10 inches in diameter and about 8 inches deep.

Oh yeah, definitely too large of a pot for it then! I would repot in a smaller pot and then in future water when the soil is all the way dry to the bottom, checking with a bamboo skewer. Make sure it’s a 50/50 ratio of potting soil to perlite so it has enough drainage.

Thank you! You’re the second person to mention checking with bamboo….would a moisture meter achieve the same thing? That’s what I use for all my other plants

I’ve heard that moisture meters can be faulty so I use bamboo skewers and fingers as needed.
