Trying to decide what to do with this big ol’ lady. She has a new leaf at the top and is growing babies at the bottom, but recently four large mature leaves turned yellow and died 😕 the pot she came in has no drainage so I’d really like to re-pot her (same size? What medium?) but also have no idea if I should strategically chop & prop some of the longer stems so the whole plant is more full and uniform. WWYD?

    Mine is in miracle grow indoor potting mix. And has been since I got it. No issues with root rot or anything like that. Mine is currently outside because she is too big for our current living space to be inside.

    I would upsize if you repot ! And make sure it has drainage and check for root rot I would not prop unless you really want to

    I'd either cut it back and prop (if size is an issue) or get her a sturdy moss pole to encourage a tidier upright climb

    You can always cut off the arial roots if you find them unsightly..

    it looks leggy. i'd chop & prop. also, it may have root rot or be root bound, so absolutely repot. monsteras prefer chunky, well draining aroid mixes of soil. i have mine in a blend of coconut husk and potting soil with some perlite mixed in, but some people recommend orchid bark as well. if no root rot, upsize to pot roughly 2 inches larger in diameter.

      It’s 25 years old and definitely leggy! I really would like to make it several plants in a better draining pot with good support.

      WOW that's old! you could get 4-5 decently sized cuttings, or more if you go smaller. beautiful for 25.

      I will say. Mine is in miracle gro indoor potting mix. My Thai and Albo are in chunky. But not my regular one. I have had no problems with root rot.

    I had one that looked like that. I cut most of her up and am trying to root sink can out the viable stems back in the pot so it can look fuller/neater.

    I use Miracle Grow Cactus, Palm and Citrus mix for all my indoor plants. I had my screen porch converted into a sun room and they are all out there. It faces north, so I have plant lights on for them.
