i know this post isn’t looking for advice but looking at your photos i’m concerned your monstera will rot in its new pot. the pot looks huge in comparison to the plant, monstera are epiphytes and very prone to root rot so it’s best they be placed in the smallest pot possible so that moisture in the soil can be used up readily. also, having the stem and petioles (leaf stems) buried underneath the soil increases the chances of them rotting and of those leaves yellowing and dying since there is now soil in between the petiole and the stem. i also recommend staying away from ceramic pots for monstera especially as when the plant becomes rootbound or otherwise needs to be repotted you’ll need to either break the pot or fight the plant to get its roots out, likely damaging the root system in the process.

totally agree — i think the first pot was pretty well suited! i didn’t know this info when i got my first monstera and definitely wish i did! such a beautiful plant 🌱

the black pot could totally be what they bought it in though, just noticed the tag hanging! either way, always great to share advice ☺️

So the original lil plastic container I got it in it was rotting already and I think it was most likely the substrate but I wasn’t gonna water again till my felt the root ball was completely dried out but thank you sm and I will be keeping a close eye on him and if I see any down fall will immediately switch to another pot but again appreciate the advice

And when I got my Deliciosa I repotted into quite a bigger pot when I first got it and haven’t repotted since and I’ve had it for about a year and it’s done very well then again it is in a plastic bit with drainage but I might tomorrow go head and put my Thai into a smaller terracotta pot just don’t wanna cause tm stress since it already had some small root rot

We have a bad habit of keeping our tags on old pots😭 but no I originally brought the Thai in a small plastic cup but it’s was definitely time for a repot the roots were practically bursting out the cup😭
