So I suppose itâs probably time to say goodbye to Ms. Calathea Medallion. She was part of my first group of plants. I had zero knowledge of plants when I got her. This marks plant death number 3 for me since starting my plant journey in July 2025. This just proves how stubborn Calatheas can be lol cause her sister , Ms. Calathea Pink Star, endured the same painful upbringing from me, but she adapted, endured and persevered lol she still has flashbacks of the never ending (so dramatic, it was 4 hours lol) burning August sunshine singeing her and her sisters leaves till they closed up. And me not knowing any better, just brought them inside cause playtime was over (I was done cleaning up the yard) and went on about my day.
The past few months both Calatheas have been in recovery. Itâs only survival of the fittest around here. When things get hard you have to be able to handle your own. Clearly the medallion didnât get the memo cause she was to busy in the mirror telling everyone to look at her leaves dancing in the air.
Anywho, Ive known for a while it was time to let medallion go, I just left her there as a testament to the other Calatheas on that shelf that this could be you. Donât ever think that it couldnât be you. And I think that works because Iâve had zero issues out of the others. Just new leaves left and right haha.

Good morning from NYC! Seeking suggestions from the BOP club.
My BOP is on its second life after my sister (expert green thumb) revived it for me. Its has grown back to its previous size, about 4 1/2 feet tall. However I recently learned i have it in too shallow of a pot. Does anyone have any size (depth / diameter) recommendations for a very happy BOP @ this size? (Current pot is 10in deep)

Good morning. Soooo went plant crazy yesterday. Came home with 16 new plants and some cuttings. Iâm thinking of getting 1 or 2 standing shelf units. I have two walls thatâs I can definitely go vertical on. The picture with all the plants in the tables, well that very front table are the plants I got yesterday. Iâm getting 5 more today lol. Anyways. You think those big shelf units from Amazon would be ok? Included pic of unit. Iâll get my own grow lights as I need more anyway lol

It seems like I am constantly searching for ways to house my plants. I try to use creative ways to integrate them into every nook and cranny in my house and this most recent set up is no exception. I have this odd soffit sticking out into the room that Iâm sure is hiding some pipe work. Itâs kind of dark so I tacked up some grow lights and ta-da, instant plant shelf!

Hello plant community, I have an issue that has to have perplexed most of you at some point, or still does!
Until recently this plant help (app) group, I rarely misted my plants. Now that I'm regularly misting, I'm creating a housekeeping problem, which has created my question for the group.
What do you use to keep furniture and flooring from getting wet while misting?

I havenât been a plant mom for long. But Iâve accumulated a significant amount over a short period. So when the weather changed I panicked. I found a coffee bar in another town on FB marketplace that my husband and I traipsed over to get. Itâs taken me a few months and I think 7 grow lights but I think Iâm happy with it. Now at least some of them have a place to ride it out until spring.

Hi Plant lovers! I'm after some advice on these double halo LED grow lights. I've always just relied on natural light but with autumn here (I'm in the UK) and now having more plants in that area, I thought I'd try some grow lights as natural light is rather low at the moment. They are currently around 10-12" above the peace lily (on the right) and the Chinese money plant (on the left) they are on the dimmest setting. They won't be on in the evening usually, this is just to show you. They will be on in the day to supplement the natural light. Is the distance OK? Is the brightness OK? Or should they be brighter? The orchids you can see are actually behind the lights, not directly under them. Thank you in advance.
