I just can’t get the look I want to save my life. Trying to get some symmetry with the limited space without creating a pest bridge. Also giving some of them, the humidity that they need to thrive while giving others the amount of light they need. Also trying not to crush leads into the wall. So I can then try to clean up all the cables and cords and keep them it’s hidden as possible. Any suggestions? My ears are smoking at this point. lol
I’m never happy with my main set up either. It gets changed every few months. I keep my tropicals in a corner with a humidifier. Succulents towards other side. I like the variety of your set up. For efficiency, I have switched to shelving. Holds more but yours looks better. Cords are a never ending issue. I use a lot of zip ties. But behind the shelves is a mass of cords that I try to hide with the plants. I use a lot of under shelf lights, and pot clip ons.
WOW!!! You have a huge collection. it is very impressive. I think one of the bigger problems I have is I really like “arching foliage”. They give me a bit of a “grand” feeling. It makes it harder to place them next to each other unless they are at different heights. For the cable management the grow light power cables are never long enough and I worry about them not being water resistant. But I will definitely be getting more zip ties. I ran out and was trying to 3D print something to help. With all that said, the thing that I have been trying to achieve I feel like you have done almost perfectly and that is a sense of cohesiveness while still being full and visible . It looks really good especially when you consider the volume and breath.

I think you have very nice plants! Idk. Maybe when you can, get some rounded short plant tables/barstools/stands to sit in front on the taller squared stands. Maybe some trailing plants to mingle in with the taller plants just to soften the edges. But really, you do have a beautiful set up!
2 Likes Thank you so much. This only became a hobby of mine about two years ago. And a lot of them were really small when I first got them some were “rescues”. I do have barstools so I’m probably going to try to use those. The only trailing plant I have is the Pothos on the top right shelf in the corner but I have attached it to a moss pole so it travels up and out instead of trail unfortunately. I think I’m attracted to plants that kind of fan out or arch so it’s difficult to place them next to each other.

would u be willing to move some of the larger plants to another place in your home ? I used to have all my plants in the living room and I made the decision to move five or six of them into my bedroom and it was the best decision. My living room is way less crowded and now I have some beautiful plants to wake up to. Even if you moved a couple of the taller ones to the window on the left, it might give your other plant a chance to shine
1 Like So at one point, I did have them in different rooms, but I had two problems. One was gnats. When the plants are spread out in different rooms so are the gnats right now they are contained. Also, when it came to care, some plants would get neglected. Forgetting that I placed them on a shelf in another room that I may not frequent as often. So it would be kind of an out of sight out of mind situation. Which I’m not proud of, but it’s true.
0 Likes hmm. maybe if u have two plant areas instead of spreading them out, it might be easier. but i get what ur saying. i’m sure you’ve already thought of this, but sticky traps could help a lot !
