Here’s what I call “the sunroom” lol. In reality this would be the “dining room” but it’s just my dog, my plants and myself sooooo no use for a dining room lol and this room gets entirely too much sunlight for it to go to waste on a table and chairs I won’t sit at lol. This room needed plants, so it’s been a plant room for a couple months now lol. Anywho, behind me is the washer and dryer and two more windows just like the ones you see. The washer and dryer side get hammered with afternoon/evening sun which most plants don’t like. So I finally flipped the plants to the other side in a more controlled sun environment. That side also gets sun but today is kinda gloomy. Peaks of sunshine. Looks like it wants to rain. It’s 71 degrees and I have all the windows open and the grow light on for some “sunshine” on the plants lol. Gonna head to the store later, get some soil ingredients as I need to repot a galaxy aralia and a croton today. I have a wide variety of plants for a newb plant guy lol does anyone have a good concoction for soil that I can use for most of my plants?

    And ignore my calatheas lol. They’re mad at me as usual. They’ll be back to normal soon. lol they got on Amazon last night while I was sleeping and ordered a Brita Pitcher. They’re so dramatic. It arrives today.

    All the plants you see live on the plant shelves on the right and the mantle. The shelves on the left are new and will be filled with new plants soon. Currently have a few plants up there that need special attention lol The rest of the grow lights for the new shelves arrive today. And then I’m gonna order new lights for the shelves on the right as those are just the basic regular led lights that came with it. I don’t even think they’re a grow light lol

    I use majority tropical potting soil or just general indoor potting soil but I always add extra drainage! Perlite is a great addition for it to get some extra oxygen and helps the plant not hold so much water! Hope this helps, I’m kind of a newbie too!!

      I do the same but I also add orchid bark to make it a chunkier soil mix

      Those are both of the items I was going to mix into the potting soil. Just wanted to make sure I could use it for most of the plants lol

    I have 5 types of soil that I use to make the mixes for all my plants: Fox Farms Ocean Forest, Perfect Plants Organic Succulent Soil, Bonsai Jack's Gritty Mix, Espoma Organic African Violet, and Espoma Organic Orchid Mix. I have 6 or 7 ratios I mix them into for different plants. This is my dining room- who needs to eat at a table anyway? 😂

    I use the same chunky soil mix for every plant in my house. It’s a big bag of whatever indoor potting soil you like, then I mix in a small bag of perlite, orchid bark, horticulture charcoal, and if I have Lecca that goes in too. I add in whatever slow release fertilizer I am using when I mix it up in my tote. I grow all 180 of my plants in it and when loading into planta I click the extra drainage option.

    This is my sunroom/nursery. I work from home so I keep the babies I am growing in here, and my cactuses since this room has the only South facing window that is not one of my kids bedrooms.

    If still looking for plant stands, Barrina has one with grow lights. About 6 feet tall. I got a it a couple months ago. Works out great for tropicals but not bright enough for succulents. I believe it was about $150.
