Looking for some plant ideas for the bottom 3 shelves. The window and Glass door across from it about 7 1/2 feet away and south facing. The windows behind the shelves are North facing but currently have trees/bushes that filter that light out and the windows to the right are under a bit shade tree and East facing. I already have a ZZ plant down in that lower area so just looking for some suggestions on other low light plants. That can go on those shelves.
Ferns and jewel orchids do well in reduced light
좋아요 1개Ferns come to my house to die. Doesn’t seem to matter how well i balance the humidity or how often I water they crisp up and die. Same with succulents. They hate me. I have murdered every single string of whatever I have owned. Alocasia, Colocasia, Anthuriums, rare monsteras no problem Ferns dead in months 😂 Maybe I will get a Jewel orchid to try there.
좋아요 1개Jewel orchids are pretty similar to average plants, so they'll probably work out for you. As for ferns, put a little bit of orchid bark at the bottom, them a mix of potting soil and sphagnum for most of the soil. The bark helps prevent root rot and the moss improves moisture retention so it can handle really frequent watering and hang on a bit longer between watering sessions. Also you might try a kangaroos paw fern; mine gets yellow spots on the leaves when it's thirsty, so you can watch a leaf as it grows in and it does a good job helping you know when it needs water

좋아요 1개Thank you. This is my office so since I have to spend all day in her 5 days a week I enjoy being surrounded by plants. My desk faces the south window so it has a lot of my cactuses and the interior wall has my Syngonium plant wall.
Sounds like heaven!
