Hello plant community, I have an issue that has to have perplexed most of you at some point, or still does! Until recently this plant help (app) group, I rarely misted my plants. Now that I'm regularly misting, I'm creating a housekeeping problem, which has created my question for the group. What do you use to keep furniture and flooring from getting wet while misting?
I don't bother to prevent it. If it splashes badly, i wipe it up, but otherwise it's just humidity for everything. (I've even accidentally misted my mom several times.) It can help to spritz from further back so the mist hits more like a cloud than a light rain
2件のいいね Lol about misting your mother. Idk, having mist fall on anything but plants bothers me. I have tried using a inverted umbrella to catch mist. It works on larger plants, not so much on small ones. I'll probably follow Phil's advice and stop misting. Thanks for responding.

I don’t mist any of my plants. I use humidifiers instead. I think most enthusiasts have come to the conclusion that it is not beneficial.
5件のいいね Thanks for the feedback. I've never misted my plants until following this app. We have an AprilAire furnace humidifier that does a decent job at maintaining moisture levels. I believe that I'll follow your advice. Thanks.
いいね 1件 Get yourself a humidistat so you can check the humidity level. I try to keep tropical plant areas at least 60%.
0件のいいねI agree with Phil. Most of my plants don’t like wet leaves, when I followed the app also some of my plants leaves would turn yellow and fall off. So I got them a humidifier and now everything is green and everyone is happy.

maybe you could try putting a few throw blankets or towels down, if anything you could just throw them in the wash after you are finished :)

I don't mist my plants because my house is prone to damp, so we try and keep the humidity as low as possible, my plants seem fine with it, I live in London not in Arizona or somewhere so I don't need to worry about them drying out too much! When Planta recommends I clean the leaves of my plants I find that's quite a good opportunity for a plant to be given some moisture so I use a wet cloth rather than a dry duster.

I got a fine misting bottle. So it is very light and doesn’t make a mess. For the most part the mist is gone from the leaves in 20 mins. I’m not convinced it does anything other than get me to look closely at my leaves frequently. So for now I’m doing it because it doesn’t seem to be hurting them and maybe helps them keep the dust off?
0件のいいね I agree that it gets me closer to my plants, but I don't like the mess the misting creates. I have limited space with access to southern exposure so I have many plants being misted at once, along with furniture and flooring. Therefore, for now I've stopped misting! Do you have problems with fungus gnats? It's hard not to have them if you bring potted plants indoors from big box stores or nurseries. I've been waging war with them for months! When I seem to have them under control, my wife is complaining about them buzzing her face. I tell her that her perfume attracts them. Lol. Let me know if you've dealt with them.
