Help! I recently revamped my plant set up to showcase all of my plants in the living room. That being said, we are rescuing a dog (Bowser) at the end of march!! My fiancé and I are beyond excited, but most (if not all) of my plants are toxic to pups. Bowser is 5 y/o and fully house trained, but I really don’t want to take any chances. I could always keep the plants in the bedroom and shut the door when we aren’t home to watch him, but I like looking at them!! Any ideas for how to maneuver this set up to take care of both my plant and fur babies?

    This works for cats, but maybe for dogs too! put some *clear* tape a few feet from the shelf to form a "barrier" between Bowser and the plants: when he steps on it he'll be discouraged from going near it again :) leave it there for a few weeks or a month and he'll associate that specific area with "uncomfortable and sticky on my paws" and he wont go near it even when the tape's gone!

    Our dog doesn't try to eat any indoor plants, but if they're too close to the ground, he does try to pee on them 🤦🏼‍♀️ between that and our 3 cats loving a natural snack, I very quickly learned to keep the plants out of reach. Mostly succulents on the open shelves (and all at least 2 feet off the ground to avoid pee). Cabinet is for the humidity loving tropicals, but mostly because I wanted a floor to ceiling plant corner and this was the closest I could get to my dream lol

    My cats love to knock plants over, so i keep my door closed with all my bigger plants that are on the ground and keep smaller plants that can go up high around the rest of the house.

    If they are all on that shelf, I'd buy a piece of plexiglass to go into front, shielding it off.

    You can vertically decorate. Shelves on the walls or hanging wall holders. Just YouTube or google ideas and you’ll find a bunch. I have this plant stand and my cats haven’t tried to climb it yet, but I also don’t keep any plants on the bottom shelves and I have a thing of cat grass on the ground to distract them 😂 I’m gonna be putting shelves up on my wall soon so I can add more.

    I’ve not had either my dog or cat show any interest in eating or chewing on my plants, so it might not be an issue. Maybe put the plants somewhere they can’t get to and slowly introduce the plants back and observe how they are around the plants

    update! Bowser and plants are doing well, almost 1 year later. He has had no interest in them, but I appreciate all the suggestions! The only problem we’ve had is when he sprawls out on the floor and accidentally nudges the palm with his paw😆
