What does it mean by check the soil? I am VERY new to the plant family. Are they saying to water more if it’s dry?

Got this pink princess today she was the only one and she was marked pretty cheap because I think she’s on more on the dying side and I was wondering if anyone had any tips to bring her back to life or her fullest potential?

New baby! Think it’s an aloe Vera but I could be wrong. P.S. its profile pic is about 2 minutes after I got it and they were sold in cut up beer cans.

My alcoisa Jacqueline is pumping out new leaves. It’s doing well in my terrarium set up always constant and perfect temperature and humidity.

I love my plants so much. I've always wanted to have lots of plants since I worked at a flower shop when I was 19. I'm 50 now and the kids are out of the house. I decided it was time to make it happen. This is what I've done over the last two years and over 100 plants later. There's so many fun plants now that I didn't even know existed. It's so fun walking through my "garden".
