I just can’t believe how OVERWATERED plants are when you buy them. This Hoya, from Walmart, needs well draining soil. This is NOT it. I can literally squeeze it out like a sponge. The water should flow through it. Bought a few days ago and I have not watered it yet But I’m glad I checked it before the roots were mush. Now I gotta go get a new pot 🙂 *always check the roots*

I trimmed this guy back earlier this spring and now it’s thriving!! Flowering, bigger, healthier leaves! The smaller ones are the leaves I trimmed off and rooted in water. (Last one was a before pic)

I just got this Fuzzy Petiole from work today, and I am completely lost on what to do for a grow light for this guy. He’s so big already that almost everything is too short. I also want to keep him on top of my bookshelf if possible. Any tips??

I have an Alocasia regal that was still in its original nursery soil from months ago and was quite wet this morning from the soil being too dense. I was going to delay today’s watering, but thought it would be a great opportunity to repot with a chunky mix, get a look at the roots, and harvest any potential corms. Photos show: The original soil that I was able to get off the roots. The roots after removal of soil. The chunky mix the soil was replaced with. The two corms I found way up under the base of the stalk.

Good morning, Planta residents! It has taken me an entire three days to muster up the courage to share this post with y’all… Friday morning my desk decided to buckle with 25+ plants sitting on top & let me tell you, it was #traumatizing seeing my children do backflips and summersaults over each other.. we will be retiring the gymnastics to Simone Biles and her alone. After throwing myself a (very small) pity party, I began to treat damage, evicted a few tenants into smaller pots/cups, and attempted to repair my humidifier. Luckily, the kids walked away with battle wounds and scars only & I had zero casualties. If you are on the fence about upgrading your current plant space, I hope this post serves as divine intervention. -thekintsugidav
