Went to a cute little downtown shop and of course couldn’t leave empty handed. I have a green wrinkled Peperomia but this Shumi red was so pretty.

As a fellow lover of the Schumi Red variety of peperomia caperata, my best tip for you is to bottom-water it every 11-12 days, and no longer than every 14 days if the soil isn’t dry enough by day 12. Also that they HATE being repotted, and are very prone to shock from it, so if you ever need to repot it, try not to disturb the roots to the best of your ability, and cover the roots in Bonide’s Rooting Hormone Powder to reduce the risk of shock. I also bottom-water this one exclusively cause this one hates getting its leaves wet. My last tip: if you want them to keep the color to their leaves, put it in the brightest window you’ve got. They can do just fine in a shady spot, but they’ll lose their color quickly in a windowsill that only gets 2-4 hours of sunlight. Good luck with yours! 😊

Thank you so much. This is my first Shumi Red so I appreciate it

No problem. They’re a little more finicky than other types of peperomias, but they’re really beautiful. A similar one I highly recommend checking out is the Peperomia caperata cayenne. The leaves are thicker, but the care is the same. It’s more like a Peperomia Santorini, but has that same purpley red to the leaves as the Schumi.

Oh my gosh that is so pretty! I have a quito, a felted, a green wrinkled and a watermelon but I definitely just started scratching the surface of peperomia’s
