ZackThe little twisty tie that they come with should be taken off. I didn’t know that I thought it was to hold the whole thing together but eventually it will strangle the plant. They hate cold drafts, I rotate mine each time I water to give adequate light, and make sure it has bright filtered light. The leaves can scorch if you give it full sunlight.

Wow thank you for all of that!!! I read online that when they’re younger you can leave it on to help it encourage the braid…should I still take it off now? I have it about 6ish feet away from a south facing window :)

Mine is about 2 feet from a south facing bay window. I’m not sure when you’re supposed to since I didn’t know it wasn’t supposed to be on. I wanna say I had it for like 3-4 months before I realized it wasn’t supposed to be on there and when I took it off there were lines on the trunk of the plant. Maybe just keep an eye on the trunk and make sure the twisty tie isn’t digging into the trunk?
