what do we think about adding rocks to succulents?
They can keep water trapped in the soil, and succulents donât like to be sitting in wet soil for too long.
2 gillningarNot if you use the right soil mix. The rocks are "Top Dressing" and it has many uses when it comes to cacti, even what you said, holds in the water. It also distributes the water evenly when watering, to make sure it gets saturated. It also keeps nonorganics(pumice/perlite) from floating to the top. There's a lot of different ways to use it, it just depends on your climate/micro climate.
2 gillningarNo clue if itâs good/bad for the plant but itâs super cute đ€
2 gillningarI put rocks in mine and it died, it couldâve been me improperly caring for it but definitely be vigilant. Watch how often you water and place it in a nice sunny spot
2 gillningarI have small rocks in my succulent soil mix, but I wouldn't put larger ones on top.

I often give succulents a top dressing of sand & gravel, paired with terracotta & lots of light, so they donât stay wet too long.
