I used to do this to grow avocados but they always took forever. Then I learned a nearly perfect way to get them to sprout quickly. Thought I would share it if you want to try it. Clean your pit of all fruit pulp. Wet a paper towel so it is WET but not dripping. Wrap seed in the paper towel and place it inside a plastic bag (ziplock or similar) but do not seal it. Place the bag in a dark spot (drawer, cupboard, shoebox, etc). If it is in a box, keep it somewhere away from heating and cooling vents. Forget about it. πŸ˜‰ Check back in about 10 days and you should see it has sprouted. You can leave it in the paper towel and baggie until it’s got about 2 β€œ or more growth. Then stick it in soil and watch it grow! The towel and baggie simulate the seed dropping to the forest floor and being covered by decaying leaves. The photo I posted are three plants I started this way a few weeks apart. They are all around a year old but have been in different locations around my property.
