Hey everyone. This is my first post on this app. I’m new to having plants and this is my first one. It’s a sago palm that I’ve had for maybe a little over a month now that I am growing outside in Massachusetts. It was a gift given to me since I’ve always wanted to try to grow a palm or tropical plant. It’s doing pretty good so far (I think), but I’m not sure. The trunk is definitely darker than when I got it, but other than that, it seems fine. I even think I’m seeing some new growth in the center.

    Make sure you're not over watering. Water only when soil dries out. They will survive with under watering but definitely not over watering. Also these prefer to bottom water 😊🪴

    Also just remember when a leaf starts browning its normal. If all of them die thats normal too it just means its getting ready for new fonds to grow. Sometimes they skip a year with no new fonds and sometimes they don't. They love direct sunlight as well. The brown ball is full of water so make sure you don't over water. It should be completely dry all the way to the bottom before it needs water.

      I LOVE mine. Last year all the fonds died and i got 5 new ones, this year its not doing anything. My daughter has had hers for 15 years!!

      I feel your pain! I’ve got 2 that have been in my yard for years now. They have always done well, but we got snow last year in Alabama and I wasn’t sure if they were ever going to put out new fonds. So my husband put a bucket over the top of one of them. Looked ridiculous, but when I took it off 2 weeks later it had sprouted! Amazing
