Snowstorm

Anyone have any ideas on what to do with my tradescantia nanouck? She’s growing wiiiiiide. (About 2ft between her two arms) she’s quiet happy where she is and finally seems to be getting enough light (was getting leggy for a while) but I’d like her to have a nicer shape. Should she be growing vertical or from a hanging pot? What do y’all think/do to yours?

Should I put it in a hanging pot to encourage it? The ends are seeming to creep upwards (but maybe that’s bc she’s getting close to the glass door)

If you want it fuller you can always chop and just stick them in the soil. This is my zebrina that I transplanted and just chopped into hundreds of pieces and stuck in the pot. I’m truly beginning to understand how these are considered weeds in some places because the growth is astonishing.

100% in the wild that’s how they spread — they break, they fall, they root, they creep 🤪

She does grow suuuuuper fast! I’ve only had her 3 months and she’s gone from 2 ‘arms’ that were about 3” long to 7 ‘arms’ of various lengths. All growing out of her centre point. Had to up pot her already, and I think I might have to again soon, starting to see roots peep outta the bottom. Maybe I should cop and prop when I up pot her? Do you root the cuttings when you transplanted yours? Your zebrina is so pretty!!! I hope mine turns out likes yours one day!

I just cut them and stuck them in the soil. I haven’t had much luck with rooting them in water. I’ve been tempted to get more tradescantias but I’m scared I won’t be able to keep up! Haha!

Oh yea if the others grow as fast as yours then yea I can see how it’d be hard keeping up! Tho they seem like a good fit for your environment. When your prop’d did you cut just above a node and popped in in the soil? Leaves on et al?

I just cut below a node and left it at that. They’re definitely not picky.
