Thank you! I inherited this plant from my sister when she passed away. It’s grown SO much that I feel like it’s reaching up to her in Heaven !!

wow that looks gorgeous. how special! only suggestion is that after cutting, let the ends callous before moving them to water to prevent rot. looks like you can cut those three main stems that stretch upwards

Thanks for your help! Do I just let the stem dry ? A week or longer?

hmm ive never propogated a stem that thick but i think more like a few days would be fine. whenever the end dries over so just check on it periodically

Wow crazy how you’ve gotten it to grow… I have 2 and they are just like 4 feet tall but not climbing up the wall like that… so cool

I can see how it may start getting harder to manage but I love the funky tropical vibes. Do you know how old it is?

The plant is no more than 10 years old.

i don’t care if two wrongs don’t make a right, if someone says something rude they should expect something back. especially when they’re the uneducated one.

Thank you for your understanding of my ignorance in this matter. I truly had no idea and would never intentionally set out to offend anyone. I

I called it Dumb Cane too… I had no idea it meant anything to do with slavery. I honestly just thought it was a name given from the toxic property of making the mouth burn and numb

Who has the time to look up every plant name and see why they’re named that… not anyone’s fault they’re called what they’re called. I have too many plants to google the reason why they’re all named what they are. And the scientific names aren’t always the easiest to remember. No plant parent owns a certain plant for what it was used for years ago, they just think it’s pretty. Obviously some are more obvious of being offensive such as “wandering Jew” so calling it a “wandering dude” sounds better to me.. but dumb cane is not a more obvious one to notice.

I was told the same as to how this name came to be.
