Hi! I’ve been looking for a plant community for so long! I am new to plants (7 months and trying) Fell in love with my first plant, a beautiful Dracaena Lisa. Im so happy to be here and hope to make a ton of plant friends! I hope I learn more about how not to kill my plants. My Dracaena has been sick for the last two months, fingers crossed after re-potting she starts feeling better. Yes, she is a she! ❤️ Looking forwars to being part of this community!

Welcome! Did you say your plant is sick? It doesn’t look sick to me. What is wrong? It’s gorgeous!

It is… its very droopy and its turning a ton of yellow leaves and brown tips that I keep removing. The leaves are falling down, it should look like this. I recently repotted it, and I think its in shock 😢

I have a giant rhaphidophora Decursiva that this is happening to. I just repotted it and all the leaves drooped and are curling. I haven’t lost any leaves yet so I’m hoping it’ll come out of it. I’d let it get pretty dry between waterings. I think it’ll be okay. I hope mine will be too. 🙏🙏🙏

Lets both hang in there. I am not a patient person and seeing my plant all droopy is bringing me down!

Do you have other plants? It helps me having other plants to admire that are doing well in the midst of the sick one. You can put them with the sick one and they can be its buddy while it recovers. 😊

Yellow leaves are a sign of overwatering. Could that be it?

I think so! I didnt lower the water during winter and just got a moisture meter to start measuring the soil moisture before I water it again. But I think I killed it when I repotted it 😭 i didnt know what i was doing! It was my first time repotting a plant. Oh boy did I learn a ton from this.

Oh dang it! Well don’t give up yet! Not until all the green is gone. It’s big so when it comes back it’s going to be glorious! I bet it will come back. If it still has viable roots that weren’t slimy and rotted then it has a chance!

I use bamboo shishkabob sticks to monitor moisture. The meters are not accurate enough for me. As soon as my bamboo stick starts to come out fairly dry (depending on the plant) I know to water. That might work better for you. You can get the sticks online or at the store usually in the bakery aisle where the cooking tools are in bags of fifty or a hundred. I buy mine online and I buy different lengths. 6”, 8”, and 12”. They breakdown eventually so you need to replace them every few months.
