Philadelphia, PA. I think I bought this pencil cactus last November 2025. It came in a huge bucket, with other succulents and cactuses, from Home Depot. Sometime in February, maybe March, I accidentally almost killed everything in it, and I don’t know how. Because of that I busted up the entire bucket of plants and I put this guy, who I did not think would survive, into a concrete planter. Even in Philadelphia, a pencil cactus will turn into a fire stick cactus when the temperature turns cooler in the fall. And considering we just had a nor’easter come through, and rain for three days, he’s doing pretty good.
