My first bromeliad flower! And looks like thereās more to come. I had no idea it would be such a lovely violet color. Something sweet and beautiful while I go through heartbreak š„²ā¤ļøāš©¹My partner of two years unexpectedly broke up with me, so the plant collection and I had to pick up our sorry pots and move back in with my mom last week. Feels bleak, but the plants are still growing and the flowers are still blooming. Guess I better take notes from them šŖ“

Iām sorry to hear that. My collection started due to a loss as well but a mc. It all started with a golden pothos, that may have been in a 4in and wasnāt big enough to vine yet.
1 gilla Iāve heard lots of people say āplant care is self care.ā For a while I thought it was just a cute sentiment, but it really does help in some stages of life to have that routine of taking care of a plant and watching it thrive. Of course, if something goes wrong with a plant, thatās hard too. But when it goes right, it does add that good routine, things to look forward to, and a sense of accomplishment. As much as I wish I could skip the sadness (and sometimes get frustrated with people telling me Iāll get past it before I know it), I know eventually there will be new growth and sunshine in my life again I was also worried at first that Iād stop taking care of my plants out of bitterness. My now ex partner apparently felt my plants took over the room heād restrict them to, but he felt like he couldnāt ask me to do anything about it. Thereās a grain of truth to that, although we each see it differently from our own perspectives. So at first I wanted to hate my plants for āruiningā the relationship. But I had this huge collection before we met. Theyāve been my passion for years. So I decided I shouldnāt punish myself and them for him ultimately deciding he didnāt like what he signed up for. And they werenāt really the root of the issue in my opinion. So Iāll keep caring for them and for me

Oooh! Such nice red š¤© I thought that part was the whole flower because I hadnāt seen that yellow part on one before your pic. Stamen I think? Reminds me of some air plant flowers Iāve seen. Maybe theyāre botanical cousins!
