spoiled a surprise from my ctenanthe while repotting her for the first time :) her conditions are very… unique… so i am surprised she’s adapted so well! also don’t look at the mess i made with my trash bin🤭 that was like my 3rd repot today

SunnyThis type is the only calathea-like plant I can manage. Ctenanthe is a cousin to the calathea. All the beauty without the calathea drama. 😁 I split mine down the middle last summer after owning it a year. It had lots of small plants. The two halves proceeded to fill the new pots as shown in the last photo.

To be honest my local nursery was having a giveaway so it was free.. and Sushi has been doing so good. I knew it was too good to be true!

I’m thoroughly enjoying mine. I watched her all nervous the first six months waiting for her to hate my hard water deposits, commercial fertilizer, and north facing windows! She didn’t throw a tantrum and just kept growing like a lady. She even bloomed. A calathea would survive the first month in my house without bottled spring holy water from the Swiss Alps. 🤣
