my alocasia frydek is starting to bloom a new leaf!! i’m soo excited to see how this one turns out 😌 does anyone have any advice on why the bottom leaf isn’t doing so well? i’m hoping it’s because of the variegation but i’m worried it may be some thing different. anything helps, thank you! ☺️

Congrats on your new leaf! I just picked up a frydek this past weekend. Crossed another dream plant off my list. To my knowledge, alocasias are pretty known for dropping a leaf when they get a new one so maybe that’s what’s happening?

The white in variegated plant leaves has a tendency to brown easily because they lack chlorophyll and can't photosynthesize. This weakens the leaf structure and they'll brown due to lack of humidity, nutrient imbalances, inconsistent watering, and too much direct sunlight (basically look at a white leaf too long and it'll brown lol!)

hahaha thank you for the information! so i suppose there’s really not much i can do about that besides control what i can. when i received it the white leaf was in better shape but has still been pretty droopy since having the plant so i’m going to assume this is the issue. :) thank you again!
