Root bound and when to repot. Is it a good idea to repot a plant with big leaves and little to no new roots into a smaller pot to promote root growth? Should I be saying goodbye to the leaves it has already? Will I have to? This is the plant in question. I took this picture a couple days ago but it’s pushing out new growth already so I know the new soil is helping that but will the smaller “pot” do the trick to promote more roots?

A smaller pot won’t promote new root growth. It could backfire if the pot is too small which blocks root growth. A smaller pot can help if the current pot size has too much soil that takes too long to dry out. Extended wet soil can cause root rot. Promote root growth by giving more light. Add a grow light. Add fertilizer and SuperThrive plant vitamins. Give it good air circulation to dry out the soil and aid with transpiration, the process where the leaves release water vapor. 🍀🪴
